So..... its the middle of January, about 5 degrees, and blowing its tits off..........
That means it must be a good time to brave the great British winter and get a sail in. So fellow team rider Steve Chatten and myself decided to blast up to Hunstanton. We were met by fellow local hotshots Nigel and Jonhny rigging up ( as they do in any weather!), and were told that 4.7's and 5.3's were the order of the day. So I rigged up a Severne Blade 4.7 and my weapon of choice today would be a Rrd Freestyle Wave 85, and Steve rigged a Blade 5.3 and a Rrd Freestyle Wave 100.
.....and then began the intrepid suit- up. Under rashy, then spartan under shorty, spartan Semi dry over wetsuit, winter boots, pull over balaclava, 3mm over balaclava.......... and finally...... prolimit polar pre-shaped gloves! ...I thank you!!!
Sailing was ok with short bump and jump although the waves were very close and a little battering. Johnny and Nigel were making it all look very easy even in the cold of January. We were out for about an hour and were toasty.
The forecast is for more wind over the weekend so I will be braving the elements again tomorrow........
....... may be I ought to start donning mi wetsuit now then. I might be ready by Sunday!!!
