An unusual sail.....
I today went to Wells to catch the Easterly winds forecast for the next few days. High tide was set for 18.13hrs so I gathered my winter wetsuit......... question? Why am I still having to wear a FULL winter wetsuit in April???......... Oh sorry, back to my story. I gathered my wetsuit and droe up to the Lifeboat House @ Wells and met up Russ and Paul to rig up. Well I say Paul, he wasn't rigging up as he's currently sporting shingles so could only offer moral support in the freezing wind. Russ rigged a 5.8mtr sail and after I had consulted the ever helpful Wells coastwatch guys, I plumbed for my old steed!....... my 5.3mtr Severne Blade and Rrd Freestylewave 85.
Russ was first out finding it much windier as you got 1/4mile out. The water was still coming in as I took my first run. Hmmm, well powered, water not so cold. I dunno, this ain't so bad!
Russ was over powered but I was still feeling good as I sailed out to meet Greg who had chosen to venture right out to the bar to enjoy the Wells waves that generate as the water flows down the channel. I was beginning to feel maxxed out now so thought it best to come back in........... and it was at that point that I thought " how about running right along to the harbour". Next thing I was broad reaching down the channel towards the harbour. It really felt good running parallel to the footpath from the harbour to the Lifeboat House. I enjoyed about a hour of blasting as more and more people opted for some flat water blasting opposed to the confused waves out front.
The new Spartan Reflex was super toasty as well............................. so I think that equals one of those illusive..... Good days!! - well till tomorrow!

First Demo Weekend pics

So we have just finished our first Demo weekend of 2008. With another great attendance over the two days, evrybody who came saw some sexy new kit from Severne Sails, Tabou boards, Gaastra Sails, Spartan Wetsuits, Thommen Boards and Predator watersports head cam.
With 'Whitey' joining the Quayside Team riders to enjoy some good sailing and light banter. Winds were goos on Saturday with sailors using 5.0mtr sails in the morning and bigger kit PM.
Sunday was a day of light winds so the SUP's came out and people had a chance to talk to our experts.
Thanx all who came, hope you enoyed, and we'll see you at our next event - Our participation in the Bournemouth > Brighton Run with Cribby. See our Blogg for details
